In this process, the plan is published automatically when it is approved if the <a href="send-plan-for-approval.html#publish-setting" class="topiclink">Publish after approval</a> option is set to </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Yes</span><span style="font-family: Inter;">.</span></p>

<p style="line-height: 1.20; margin: 7px 0 16px 0;"><span style="font-family: Inter;">In a custom process, you can use the </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Publish Project Plan </span><span style="font-family: Inter;">activity to automatically change a plan version’s status to </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Published</span><span style="font-family: Inter;">. When the activity is performed, the project plan approval settings are checked, and then one of the following happens:</span></p>

<li style="line-height: 1.20; margin-top: 7px; margin-right: 0; margin-bottom: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Inter;">If plan approval is enabled, and the project plan version is assigned the </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Approved</span><span style="font-family: Inter;"> status, it is published.</span></li><li style="line-height: 1.20; margin-top: 7px; margin-right: 0; margin-bottom: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Inter;">If plan approval is enabled, but the project plan version is assigned any status other than </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Approved</span><span style="font-family: Inter;">, the plan isn’t published, the version status stays the same, and the process continues to run.</span></li><li style="line-height: 1.20; margin-top: 7px; margin-right: 0; margin-bottom: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Inter;">If plan approval is disabled, the project plan version is published no matter the status.</span></li></ul>

<p style="line-height: 1.20; margin: 7px 0 16px 0;"><span style="font-family: Inter;">Add the activity to the business process when a project plan version needs to be published. If project plan approval is enabled, place </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Publish Project Plan</span><span style="font-family: Inter;"> after <a href="project-plan-approval.html" class="topiclink">Approve Project Plan</a>.</span></p>

<p style="line-height: 1.20; margin: 7px 0 16px 0;"><span style="font-family: Inter;">Before configuring the activity, create an </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">App</span><span style="font-family: Inter;"> type variable in the process context and link it to the </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Project plan</span><span style="font-family: Inter;"> app. In the process, the plan version whose status needs to be changed will be written to this variable. If you are setting up your approval process within the </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Project plan</span><span style="font-family: Inter;"> app, this variable is added to the process context by default.</span></p>

<p style="line-height: 1.20; margin: 7px 0 16px 0;"><span style="font-family: Inter;">After that, drag the </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Publish Project Plan </span><span style="font-family: Inter;">activity to the process diagram and double-click on it. In the window that opens, specify the variable linked with the </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Project plan</span><span style="font-family: Inter;"> app.</span></p>

<p style="line-height: 1.28; margin: 0 0 11px 0;"><span style="font-family: Inter;">When you finish configuring the process, <a href="how_to_bind_app_to_proccess.html" class="topiclink">bind</a> it with the </span><span style="font-family: Inter; font-weight: bold;">Project plan</span><span style="font-family: Inter;"> app. If project plan approval is enabled in the system, also specify the process in the plan approval settings.</span></p>
